The CD Homophony and Heterophony provides a significant contribution to the development of new literature for two solo flutes. The concept behind it is to promote this particular area of music culture and to seek inspiration for the continuous development of performance skills.
The recorded material allows to get familiar with a wide spectrum of timbral and expressive potential of the flute and its variants. The compositions utilize extended performing techniques, which are an integral part of expanded sound structures of the parts, enabling to consolidate playing techniques essential for a contemporary flutist’s technique. “The pieces recorded on the album serve as a summary of musical experiences, explorations, and artistic interests of the ΔiavloΣ Δuo ensemble. The selection of works for two solo flutes also reflects their interest in Polish and international repertoire. The compositions recorded on the CD required the flutists to master the instrument perfectly, starting from varied tonal qualities, dynamics, and forms of articulation, to a high level of technical difficulty in very fast passages in high registers, as well as precise intonation control across all registers. The artists carefully considered the art of performance, formal structure, and inspiration drawn from cultural traditions or experimentation.” (© Michail Travlos)
