In 2004 EWELINA ZAWIŚLAK graduated from the Łódź Music Academy with distinction, under the supervision of Prof. Antoni Wierzbiński. During the period of 2003-2004, she studied at the Franz Doppler Institute in Budapest in the class of Prof. János Bálint. She has participated in many national and international master class courses. 

She was awarded the title of “Musical Talent” during the Talent Week in Tarnów (1995), reached the finals of the Gaetano Zinetti’s International Competition of Chamber Music in Italy (2005), and was awarded the 3rd prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Austria (2007). She was distinguished with the prize of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for artistic and educational accomplishments (2010), the Prize of the Marshal of Łódzkie Voivodeship for artistic activity (2011), the Bronze Cross of Merit (2014), and the Diploma of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for the great involvement in her educational work (2015). She was the laureate at the International Flute Competition “Il flauto ricercato” three times (2016, 2018). She was distinguished with the 1st degree individual prize of the Head of the Center for Artistic Education in Warsaw (2017, 2018), the badge of honor for “Service for the Polish Culture” (2019), and the scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2020). She was awarded the Grand Prix and the triple grade distinction at the International Artistic Competition “INTERSTELLAR” in Ukraine (2021). In 2023, she was awarded the ŁÓDZKIE EUREKA 2022 distinction in the category of art for promotion of Polish musical culture through performance and organization of scientific and artistic undertakings in 2022. 

She performs as a solo and chamber music performer in Poland and abroad – in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Germany, China, Norway, Slovakia and Ukraine. She collaborated with the Tarnów Chamber Music Orchestra and Polish Camerata. Currently a member of the Polish Modern Orchestra. She co-founded many music bands: Flash Flutes, E&E, Empiria Trio, Polskie Trio Fletowe, Mellow Five, Tenerezza as well as founded the Flute Orchestra of the Łódź Music Academy with which in 2019 she won the bronze medal in the category of “phonographic premiere” for the record titled Fletowe impresje (Flute impressions) awarded by Global Music Awards in the USA. In 2020, she released another phonographic record Jolanta Smolska. Nowe kroki - Inkubacja, which was distinguished with a silver medal in two categories by Global Music Awards in California (2021). In 2022, she released another phonographic record with harpsichordist Ewa Rzetecka-Niewiadomska with Polish music titled Dedications, which was awarded a silver medal as part of Global Music Awards (2023) and a gold star as part of MUSIC & STARS AWARDS (2023). She is also the author of a scientific publication titled “The meaning of musical transcription and arrangement for the artistic and instrumental development of a flutist based on the example of selected music pieces” published by POLIHYMNIA Sp. z o.o. in 2020. She participated in many music recordings. 

She conducts master class courses and methodology workshops. As a cultural animator, she initiated: the 3rd International Competition “Muzyczne Orły” (Musical Eagles) in the field of broadly understood classical music for prominent artistic, scientific and educational accomplishments, the Polish Flute Congress, the International Symposium for Brass Instruments, the International Congress for Brass Instruments “NOWE PRYZMATY” (NEW PRISMS), the International Solo Flute Competition “Il Flauto Ricercato”, the 

International Music Competition Power Sunrise, the Virtual Festival “Musica Legata”, a cycle of performances titled Artists and Composers of Łódź playing for Łódź inhabitants “The Promised Music”, the International Festival of Organic and Chamber Music “Musica Perpetua”, a cycle of concertos “Revertimini ad fontes”, the Łódź Flute Workshops “Musica Legata”, flute sessions “Young LIVE online”, the International Master Class Course in Brass Instruments, and other. She cooperates with the Music Publishing House MERAKEL, providing substantive editorial support in scope of the newest musical pieces by Polish composers. Nowadays, she has been developing her competencies by creating musical arrangements and compositions involving the flute. 

She has been a solo artist at the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic since 2002 and an educationist at the Łódź Music Academy since 2004 (employed as Professor of Music Academy of the flute class since 2019). In 2018, she became the head of the Department of Wind Instruments of the Łódź Music Academy.

An award-winning IWONA GLINKA is a soloist, educator, recording artist, orchestral and chamber musician, and leading performer of new and experimental music. She founded the Phasma-Music Ensemble in 2016, where she currently serves as the artistic director in addition to playing many concerts a year as an ensemble member. She has given dozens of solo recitals with classical and contemporary repertoire and has appeared as Principal Flautist with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.  She has developed a great interest in New Music, which since 1994 has resulted in over one hundred world premières of works by Australian, Belgian, British, Canadian, Greek, German, Polish and US composers, more than one hundred of them commissioned by and written especially for her.

Iwona Glinka was born in Kwidzyn, Poland. At the age of 18 she graduated from the Music Lyceum in Gdansk with a Flute Diploma (Highest Distinction). She continued her studies at the Music Academy of Gdansk, Poland.  She graduated from the Academy in 1994 with the degree of Master of Music in Performance (flute).  Between 1991 and 1994, on the Baloise Holding Scholarship, she attended the Summer Courses of the Music Academy of Lenk in Switzerland with Peter-Lukas Graf. In 1992, on a scholarship from the Mayor of the City of Darmstadt in Germany, she attended the Ferienkurse für Neue Musik where she studied with Pierre-Yves Artaud. In 1996 there followed a further period of studies at the Accademia Internationale Superiore di Musica in Biella, Italy, again with Peter-Lukas Graf and later at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, France, with Pierre-Yves Artaud.

  Since 1995, Iwona Glinka has made Athens, Greece, her second home. In 2015, she relinquished her position with the Athens Symphony Orchestra and Hellenic Contemporary Music Ensemble to pursue a more active solo career after 20 years as an ensemble member and an orchestral musician. She currently divides her time between her family home in Piraeus and Kwidzyn.

Iwona Glinka is the first-prize winner  in the International Moscow Music Online-Competition 2020, the 2019 International Quebec Music Competition, the Salzburg and Amsterdam Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition 2019, the Rome Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition 2018, the IMKA International Internet Music competition 2018, second prize winner in  the New York Golden Classical Music Awards 2019 International Competition,  the second-prize winner at the 2019 New York Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition and she received the Most Distinguished Artist Prize & Special Mention at the IBLA Grand Prize Competition 2017.  In addition to touring on a regular basis, she was chosen as a featured performer for: IBLA Grand Prize Winner Tour (2018, Carnegie Hall, New York, USA), The International Conference “Research Hands on Flute” (2017, Aveiro, Portugal),  the National Flute Association Convention (2016, San Diego, USA), the Canadian Flute Association Convention (2015, Toronto, Canada) 5th and 10th Sacred Music of Patmos (2005 and 2010, Greece), Electro Media Works (2008, Athens, Greece), International James Galway Flute Festival (2007, Weggis, Switzerland), 3rd and 4th Mediterranean Contemporary Music Days (2005 and 2006, Istanbul, Turkey), 3rd Flute Festival (2006, Madison, USA), Archanes Festival (2002, Greece), Days of Contemporary Music (2002, Athens, Greece), Schoenberg Festival (2001, Athens, Greece), International Flute Festival (1997, Rome, Italy), International Computer Music Conference (1997, Thessaloniki, Greece).

She received major grants to commission, to record and to perform new works from: the Costopoulos Foundation (2020, 2017, 2013, Greece), the Norwegian Society of Composers (2017), the Adam Mickiewicz Institute Polish Culture Around the World (2015, 2016, Poland), the Britten-Pears Foundation (2012, UK), the RVW Trust Foundation (2012, UK), the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (2012, Canada).

In May 2009, she obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Performance (flute) from the Academy of Music in Cracow, Poland, for her dissertation on and a recital of Brian Ferneyhough’s complete flute music. In 2012, she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, for her research on contemporary Greek music for solo flute.

Iwona Glinka has recorded extensively and appears on a dozen albums available on the European, Canadian and US labels such as Sarton Records, Universal, BMG, Auris Subtilise, Centaur Records, Irida, Magni, Legend, Phasma Music and others. In 2018 her album PROGRESSIONS won  the CLOUZINE International Music Awards Fall 2018 (Best Contemporary Album), the Akademia Music Awards - Music Award of Excellence (Composer, Flautist and Album), the Global Music Award - Gold Triple Medal - Awards of Excellence (Composer, Flautist and Album) and  was nominated for the  International Classical Music Awards - ICMA 2018 (Contemporary Music).
